About me

Hey, I'm Ela, and I make handmade ceramics! After taking a beginners pottery course in January 2023, I fell absolutely head over heels for the craft. It felt incredible to be working with my hands creating things, and also gave me a space to get out of my own head and dive into something tangible. Outside of the studio it was all I could think about. I watched hours and hours of videos and instructional tutorials, read lots of books by the masters, while waiting eagerly for the next class to come around. Around the same time, I had found out that I'd been made redundant from my job as a scientist, and so the stars fell apart and re-aligned. I'm the happiest and most content I've ever been, and it's all because of clay. I've been working full time learning the craft and pushing myself to grow, and here are the little fruits of my labour.
It amazes me just how old this material really is. Many scientists hypothesise that clay was essential for the formation of life on earth - providing just the right conditions and compounds for life to begin. I like to think that this very clay helped to form the ancestors of you and I, patiently waited billions of years underground, before being unearthed to become a pot for it's creation to enjoy.
Know that each piece has been desperately adored throughout each stage of it's creation.
