In this workshop we're going to show you how to hand-build your very own mug and bud vase. We'll demonstrate pinching and coiling techniques to create your forms, and show a range of ways you can decorate your pieces. The class will last 3 hours (12-3pm), including a short break in the middle for refreshments and treats.
Here are a few details to help you prepare:
Clothing: Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit mucky — clay has a habit of finding its way everywhere!
Footwear: Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
Nails & Jewellery: If possible, keep your nails short and remove rings, watches, or bracelets before the session — it makes working with clay much easier.
What’s provided: All tools, clay, and materials are included. You’ll have the chance to make and decorate your own pieces, which we will fire and glaze for you after the session.
After the workshop: Finished pieces will be ready to collect in the new year once they’ve been fired and glazed. We will send an email letting you know they're out of the kiln.
Please note that as a craft, pottery can sometimes be unpredictable. We'll teach you how to avoid things like cracks but imperfections can occur. This is an introduction, and an opportunity to have a relaxed, crafty afternoon letting your creativity take over.
